US voices support for farm laws, calls for dialogue to resolve farmers' protest

Biden administration also said that it considers peaceful protests as a hallmark of a thriving democracy.

Recognising the intense war between the Government of India and farmers over the farm reforms, the United States voiced its support for the three farm laws passed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi government.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Biden administration stated that it appreciates and welcomes the steps that would improve the efficiency of India’s markets and attract greater private sector investment.

Dismissing violence in the name of protests carried out by the ‘farmers’, the Biden administration also said that it considers peaceful protests as a hallmark of a thriving democracy and praises Modi government’s progressive farm sector reforms, but it also mentioned that they "encourage that any differences between the parties be resolved through dialogue,”

Even though observers in the country have welcomed the Biden administration’s support over the farm reforms, the Indians have also expressed caution against the foreign country's intervention in their internal affairs.

Moreover, the support for the farm laws by the developed country's administration comes just a day after foreign vested interests attempted to peddle false propaganda against India by expressing their solidarity with a bunch of protestors, who have been accused of unleashing riots on the streets of Delhi.

However, the Government of India issued a stern warning to the foreigners, who tried to intervene the matter and asked these individuals and entities with no locus standi in India’s internal matters, to ascertain facts and undertake a proper understanding of the farmers’ protest before rushing to comment on it.
