Covid situation goes from bad to worse, India record over 1 lakh cases in 24 hours

The eight states seen continuous surge of cases

To add woos to worries to the citizens of India, the corona cases is surging in India. It is really a matter of concern as India records over 1 lakh cases in 24 hours.


An official data released had shown as of April 5, India reported 1,03,558 new infections and 478 deaths. The death toll has now increased to 1.65 lakh. The total number of COVID-19 cases in India has now risen to 1.25 crore, of which, 1.16 crore are recoveries.


The data came when PM Modi has taken a high-level meeting to review the COVID-19 pandemic situation and vaccination program in the country, after sudden rise in COVID-19 cases in the country.


The meeting was attended by all senior officers including Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary to PM, Health Secretary, Dr Vinod Paul. Some of the key areas of focus are to avoid mortality under all circumstances by providing healthcare infrastructure, availability of oxygen, ventilators along with required logistics, ensuring that clinical management protocols are followed across all hospitals as well as for those who are in-home care.


The eight states including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh have seen continuous surge of cases.


It is now ardent need to take up immediate and effective measures to contain the active cases and daily deaths.


The following five-fold strategy is need also adopted by the states and UTs for fruitful containment and management of the COVID-19 pandemic which are:-need to enhance testing, strict containment, prompt contact tracing, effective clinical treatment and enforce COVID Appropriate Behaviour.
