Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that all arms of the government are working unitedly and rapidly to deal with the worsening COVID-19 situation in the country.
His remarks came during a high-level meeting with the council of ministers to discuss the situation in India. During the meeting, the Prime Minister urged his ministers to stay in touch with people of their respective regions and get feedback from them.
He stressed upon the need to ensure that issues at the local level are promptly identified and addressed, the information and broadcasting ministry said in a statement.
The council also reviewed all the efforts made in the last 14 months by the central and state governments and the people of India. The ministers noted that the present pandemic situation is a "once in a century crisis" and is a big challenge for the world.
India is in the grip of a catastrophic Covid situation, with the country reporting 3.8 lakh fresh infections on Friday and over 3,000 deaths.
