India records highest daily spike with 3.60 lakh cases

In a matter of concern India has recorded 3,60,960 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, another highest one-day record, taking the overall caseload to 1,79,97,267, according to data from the Union Health Ministry stated today. Now, the country’s active COVID-19 cases stand at 29,78,709 .


Ten States including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan report 73.59% of the new cases. Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 66,358. It is followed by Uttar Pradesh with 32,921 while Kerala reported 32,819 new cases.


The death tally was 3293 in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll is at 2,01,187, the highest single-day record. In the last 24 hours, 2,19,272 recovered, taking the number of recoveries to 1,43,04,382.


Meanwhile, the Central government on Monday said that all citizens above 18 years of age will be eligible to get vaccinated from 1 May. According to government data, as many as 14,78,27,367 people have been vaccinated so far.
