Urging all states and Union territories to take measures against the spread of COVID-19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the second wave of Corona has to be stopped immediately.
District authorities can create micro-containment zones, wherever necessary, Modi told state and UT authorities, as he handed out a five-point plan to fight what is being called the second wave of the COVID-19 infection.Reiterating his famous slogan 'Dawai bhi, kadai bhi' (yes to medicine, yes to caution), the Prime Minister said that states will have to step up testing, focus on maximizing vaccination and minimizing wastage.
Meanwhile, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee prioritised her election meeting over the PM's crucial COVID-check talks and chose to skip it. Not only Mamata, but Bhupesh Baghel, chief minister of Chhattisgarh, one of the five worst-affected states, with the highest deaths in the last 24 hours, has also skipped Modi's meeting.
