One more black fungus death in West Bengal

The state also reported five new cases, pushing the total tally to 23

One more person died of mucormycosis or 'black fungus' in West Bengal on Saturday according to a Health Department official.


Earlier on May 22, a 32-year-old woman died of mucormycosis while undergoing treatment for Covid 19 at a hospital in Kolkata.


The state also reported five new cases, pushing the total tally to 23. Besides, there are 11 suspected cases of mucormycosis in Bengal.


Three cases were reported from the Command Hospital, while two cases were reported from the Bankura Sammilani Medical College and Hospital. Of the new cases at the Command Hospital, one each was from Bihar and Odisha.
