Rajasthan govt. announces weekend curfew to fight COVID-19

The decision comes after Rajasthan witness 33 COVID-19 deaths and record 6,658 new cases of the disease.

Amidst the rise of corona cases in the country the Rajasthan government has announced a weekend curfew in the state from 6 pm on Friday till 5 am on Monday to contain the spread of Covid-19 virus. Rajasthan government has also decided to impose a night-long curfew from 6 pm to 5 am in the entire state from April 16.


Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took to twitter to announce this "In view of the increasing cases of Corona, curfew will remain in the state from 6 am tomorrow till 5 am on Monday. Appeal to all of you to cooperate with the government during the curfew and follow the Covid appropriate behaviour."


The decision comes after Rajasthan witness 33 COVID-19 deaths and record 6,658 new cases of the disease.


According to the Union Health Ministry, Rajasthan is among the 10 states accounting for 80.76 per cent of the new infections reported in a day.


The other nine states are: Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat.


Service which are exempted are public and essential good services like Banking, LPG services, fruit, vegetable, milk vendors etc.


Election-related activities in Sahara (Bhilwara), Sujangarh (Churu) and Rajsamand assembly constituencies, where by polls will be held on Saturday, are also be exempted.


The CM also warned that if strict steps are not taken in time, the situation may worsen like some other states which are witnessing a massive surge in the infections.
