From Saturday noon, flyers departing Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kochi to Kolkata can only ferry passengers, who have Covid-19 negative RT-PCR reports. As per a notification by the officials from Kolkata Airport, the test has to be carried out within 72 hours prior to departure. There is no provision of getting the test done on arrival. This rule is also rule applicable for flights departing for these cities that are bound for Bagdogra and Andal.
The West Bengal government on Wednesday put restrictions on flight travel from four states — Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana — to airports in the state, making RT-PCR test prior to boarding mandatory.
With this move, Bengal joins 10 other states that have similar restrictions and RT-PCR test requirements on passengers arriving from other states.
State additional chief secretary H K Dwivedi on Wednesday intimated civil aviation secretary P S Kharola of the state’s COVID-control measure and requested the ministry to issue suitable instructions to all airlines.
