Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav tests positive for COVID 19

Yadav was in Haridwar to meet Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad president Mahant Narendra Giri, who also tested positive for the virus

On the spiking corona cases in India, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has tested positive for virus on April 14, 2021.


The former CM took to twitter to confirm the news, he tweeted in Hindi "My corona test report has just come positive. I have isolated myself and treatment has started at home." He also added "Those who have come in contact with me in the last few days, the most humble request is that they also get it checked. They are also requested to remain in isolation for a few days."


On Sunday, Yadav was in Haridwar to meet Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad president Mahant Narendra Giri, who also tested positive for the virus. Giri is currently undergoing treatment at a private nursing home in Haridwar. On Tuesday, state chief minister Yogi Adityanath also went into self-isolation after coming into contact with some of his Covid-19 positive staffs. He will be working virtually until the quarantine period is over.


Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister Tandon has also tested positive for the novel coronavirus.


Indian rising cases are concerning as India registered over 1.84 lakh fresh Covid-19 cases in a span of 24 hours and there are 13,65,704 active Covid-19 cases in the country currently. India had breached the 12-lakh mark in active tally for the first time on Monday.
