Giving cold oxygen directly from the cylinder is very dangerous and there is a possibility of black fungus: Dr Chandra

Black fungus is such a dangerous infection that about half of its victims die. Protocols also have to be masked to avoid the corona virus. Some people keep the same mask for several days, but now it has been revealed that using the same mask for 2-3 weeks can cause black fungus.

During the second wave of coronavirus epidemic, the danger of black fungus also came to the fore and in many places its cases have come to the fore.

Regarding this, AIIMS neurosurgery professor Dr P Sharat Chandra says that fungal infections are not new but it has never increased according to the epidemic. According to him, the reason for this has not yet been revealed that as the epidemic is increasing, why its cases are not increasing, but there is reason to believe that there is more than one reason for it.

Chandra said that the biggest cause of black fungus is uncontrolled diabetes, systemic use of steroids with tocilizumab, patients on ventilation, taking supplemental oxygen.

He further said, if any of these factories are within six weeks of virus treatment, then they are at the highest risk of getting black fungus.

He added that giving cold oxygen directly from the cylinder is very dangerous and there is a possibility of black fungus if you use a mask for two-three weeks and those who are more prone to black fungus can be given the anti-fungal drug posaconazole.
