A woman rushed to the Coimbatore Government Hospital after a broken cannula needle was left stuck in her veins following a child delivery by hospital staff in Ooty on Saturday.
The patient named Sanjana and her husband Suresh Bahadur were daily wagers who lived near Raj Bhavan in Ooty.
Sanjana was admitted to the Ooty government hospital om Saturday where she gave birth to her second child and immediately underwent a family planning operation.
According to the methodology, she was given drips and while removing the equipment, the staff realised that the cannula needle had broke and left stuck inside her vein.
The hospital staff alerted Sanjana's family and said she must be taken to Coimbatore government hospital as she required surgery for cannula needle removal.
The woman's family was upset to see her suffer in pain and accused hospital staff of being indolent and ignorant. The family also raised a complaint against it to the police, and transported Sanjana to the Coimbatore hospital.
Coimbatore hospital’s doctors had to struggle for over thirty minutes to remove the broken cannula needle from her vein and saved her life.
According to medical reports from the Coimbatore government hospital her vitals are now stable.
