The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party has already shown its support for the farmers protesting at the Delhi borders. Today on the second day of monsoon session in Delhi Vidhan Sabha, the government will be tabling proposal on cancellation of Farm Laws. Take a look at the report for more.
The party's focus would be on the issue of farmers protesting the repeal of three contentious Central farm laws and a legal guarantee on minimum support price as the party is eyeing next year's Punjab Assembly polls.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday wrote to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urging her to extend the moratorium on repayment of short-term crop loans by farmers to December 31, 2021. Gandhi also sought waiver of all penal interest on such loans. He highlighted that farmers across the country are facing acute financial distress due to the pandemic.
Farmers, mainly from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, have been protesting at Delhi border points -- Ghazipur, Singhu and Tikri -- since November last year.
