Commenting on the development, Bengal CM's nephew said, "BJP thinks it can put pressure on us by using ED against us but we will emerge stronger”. Abhishek has been asked to appear for questioning on September 6 and Rujira on September 1.
Meanwhile, fiercely reacting to her Bhaipo's summon, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that the central government was using agencies to fight the Trinamool Congress as they are incapable of fighting the party politically.
“Our priority is to work for the people. When the BJP govt in Delhi cannot compete with us in politics, they use agencies… Few people had left us but now they have returned because they know that their home belongs here (TMC),” Mamata said in a scathing attack to Narendra Modi-led saffron party.
“BJP ministers are hand in glove with coal mafia and have stayed at hotels run by them during elections. I have never come across such a vindictive party and a government in my political life. If you (BJP) show us ED, we will also send proof against BJP leaders to the central agency,” she futher added.
Abhishek's wife had been questioned by the CBI earlier this year ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Elections in link to coal smuggling case, which involves the mining and smuggling of coal worth Rs 20,000 crore.
