Delhi Police permitted farmers to hold a demonstration at Jantar Mantar on scrapping of agricultural laws

Farmer unions protesting against the three disputable Central agricultural laws on Thursday announced a "Mission Uttar Pradesh" campaign which will begin from September 5 ahead of the Assembly elections 2022 in the state.

 

Farmer leader Prem Singh Bhangu while speaking to reporters at the Singhu border said that their next stop will be Uttar Pradesh which is BJP`s heartland.

 

He further added, "Our Uttar Pradesh mission will begin on September 5. We will totally isolate BJP. There is no alternative other than to repeal three farm laws. We are ready for talks.’’

 

While, hundreds of farmers will be protesting at Jantar Mantar on 22 July demanding the scrapping of new agricultural laws from 11 am to 5 pm daily.

 

Delhi Police has permitted farmers to hold a demonstration at Jantar Mantar with limited numbers on Wednesday.

 

Only, after the police took an undertaking from them that the farmers would not march towards Parliament which is currently in session.

 

The Delhi government has also permitted farmers to hold protests, subject to following all COVID guidelines and only those farmers who have ID cards will be permitted at the protest site.

 

Farmers are asked not to take out any march in view of COVID-19 restrictions and are asked to observe COVID appropriate behaviour by wearing masks and social distancing.

 

So far, several meetings have been held between the government and farmer leaders to break the deadlock between the two parties.
