Poll strategist Prashant Kishor's 22-member team of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) has been put under house arrest in Tripura's Hotel Woodland Park at Agartala.
The development comes after the team was conducting a ground assessment for the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress party ahead of 2023 state assembly elections.
Targetting to make TMC's foot strong in Tripura, the I-PAC team had visited the state last week and as per their sources, they all have been forcibly detained in the hotel and are not allowed to step out.
“The team has been put up in Woodland Park hotel and the police is practically saying that they are COVID positive and are kept in house arrest, while not allowing them to work. The police also declined to comment as well,” I-Pac sources claimed.
They futher informed that Kishore's surveyors had been moving in different parts of the state to conduct their survey.
Earlier, several TMC supporters were arrested in Tripura for allegedly going against the COVID norms and gathering in large numbers to hear TMC supremo Mamata's speech on the party's Martyr's day on June 21.
