Amidst anti-Trinamool Congress chants and vandalism, the West Bengal ruling party's national secretary general secretary Abhishek Banerjee reached Tripureshwari temple in the northeastern state on Monday.
Posting a video on Twitter, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew slammed Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb for 'destroying' democracy in the state.
“The BJP leaders say that democracy doesn’t exist in West Bengal but the real picture of BJP-run state Tripura can be seen. Democracy is completely destroyed in Tripura and the people of Tripura will do justice during the election,” he said.
Crying foul, the TMC workers lodged a protest accusing the saffron party of the attack. One TMC spokesperson Sudip Raha can be heard screaming and hurling sexist comments at the Tripura Police asking them to “wear bangles”.
However, a report emerged by OSD to Chief Minister of Tripura- Sanjay Mishra who took to Twitter to share a video of a TMC worker attacking the media. “Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee’s hooliganism in Tripura. His PSO beats up a local journalist,” he wrote.
After witnessing gruesome post-poll violence in Bengal, it's hard to keep words TMC and democracy in a single sentence. If reports are to be believed, there have been more than 11,000 incidents of post-poll violence on the saffron party workers.
