VK Sasikala quits politics

Sasikala also expressed heartfelt thanks to the cadre and well-wishers.

Close-aide of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa, VK Sasikala on Wednesday night, announced her decision of quitting politics. In a two-page statement, she said the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) cadre should stay united and work for the continuance of the golden rule of former chief ministers MG Ramachandran and Jayalalitha.

“The cadre will have to strive hard to prevent the evil force Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) from returning to power and ensure the golden rule of Amma continues,” she said. Sasikala also expressed heartfelt thanks to the cadre and well-wishers.

Chinnamma said she had remained the same person even after the death of Jayalalithaa, like how she was executing the ideas of the leader as her sister when she was alive. “I am not for any position, title or power. I will remain grateful to the beloved cadre of Puratchi Thalaivi and the people of Tamil Nadu,” she said.

She further said that she would keep off politics and would pray to Jayalalithaa, who was like her god to establish her golden rule. Sasikala’s nephew and Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazagam (AMMK) leader TTV Dhinakaran said he had tried to convince her for half an hour but she had been firm in her decision.
