Over the decades, celebrity brand endorsement has remained as one of the most utilised promotional tactics.
The data was shared by AdEx India which is division of TAM Media Research. Bollywood action star Akshay Kumar topped the list of the most visible celebrities in the first half of 2021. He had endorsed 36 brands with an average visibility of 33 hours per day across all television channels.
Followed by actor Kiara Advani with an average visibility of 18 hours per day across channels through endorsements in television advertisements.
The celebrity couples that are always on the top of Bollywood story and this year with over 50 per cent of advertisements were endorsed by two celebrity couples that is Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna with 39 brands and Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan with 19 brands.
Followed by Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh with a total of 30 and 32 brands respectively.
With regards to sports celebrity brand endorsements were Virat Kohli that owned 26 percent share of ads followed by Dhoni with 23 percent while in female sports celebrities, Mithali Raj topped the most visible list followed by Saina Nehwal.
The statistics further showed that bollywood celebrities accounted for over 85 percent share of advertising during Jan-Jun 2021 followed by sports personalities and television stars added 12 percent and 3 percent share respectively.
