Fatima Beghum of Gulabo Sitabo passes away at 89

Jaffer' grandson informed that the actress died following a brain stroke, on Friday, October 15

The veteran bollywood actress Farrukh Jaffer passed away at the age of 89 in Lucknow.

 

Farrukh Jaffer has worked in several films in a career spanning decades, and her most recent work was in Shoojit Sircar's 'Gulabo Sitabo'.

 

Jaffer' grandson informed that the actress died following a brain stroke, on Friday, October 15.

 

The grandson of the veteran actress, Shaz Ahmed told news agency PTI, "My grandmother died today at around 7 pm at Gomti Nagar residence following a brain stroke. "

 

Ahmed also informed that her last rites will take place on Saturday at the Aishbagh Kabristan.

 

According to her grandson, the veteran actress started her bollywood career with the film 'Umrao Jaan' in 1981, in which she played the role of veteran star actor Rekha's mother.

 

Although, her most recent and noteworthy work was with the superstar of bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan in 'Gulabo Sitabo', in which she played the role of Fatima Beghum.

 

Juhi Chaturvedi, bollywood screenwriter has express her grief over Farrukh Jaffar's death in Instagram.

 

The screenwriter shared a photo of the now deceased actor and wrote, "begum gayiin. Farrukh jina aap jaisa koi tha aur na hoga.. dil se shukriya jo aapne humko aapse rishta jodne ki ijaazat di ab allah ki uss duniya mein hifaazat se rahiyega RIP."

 

Farrukh Jaffar started working in the entertainment industry with a radio show and later on film such as 'Peepli Live', 'Swades', 'Sultan' and 'Secret Superstar'.
