In a bizarre incident a woman found a deep-fried towel instead of a portion of fried chicken into her takeaway order.
The woman identified as Alique Perez had ordered food from Jollibee in the Philippines on Tuesday but when she tried to cut some chicken for her son, she found something "really disturbing".
She exclaimed: "Just something that frustrated me this late. We had Jollibee delivered via grab. Ordered chicken for my son, while I was trying to get him a bite, I found it super hard to even slice. Tried opening it up with my hands and to my surprise a deep-fried towel. This is really disturbing... How the hell do you get the towel in the batter and even fry it!?!?"
She also added that other meals prepared in the restaurant might have also been affected by the towel.
Jollibee on other hand on Wednesday, issued a statement, saying they had been forced to close the branch in Bonifacio Global City for three days, starting from June 3 to ensure that this does not happen again.
The restaurant issued statement stated that: "We are deeply concerned about this matter and have conducted a thorough investigation of the incident. It is unfortunate that deviations from Jollibee's standard food preparation procedures occurred on the part of certain personnel of the store. We will also send out reminders to all stores to ensure the strict adherence to Jollibee's food preparation systems."
