The technology major Facebook is likely to launch its augmented reality Ray-Ban smart glasses soon.
GizmoChina has reported that the technology major is silently making progress in its development of hardware products with augmented reality implications. Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed earlier this week that the Ray-Ban would be launched soon.
The plans of a 2021 launch of the device have been significantly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and it seems that the overall outlook and expectations remain positive for a launch in early 2022. However, tech giant's announcement could indicate a possible launch of the device in financial year Q4, 2021.
As per the report, Facebook is developing the Ray-Ban smart glasses in a collaboration with EssilorLuxottica.
The report further added that Ray-Ban smart glasses could be a precursor to the truly augmented reality (AR) glasses. Although they are not classified as AR glasses . Ray-Ban smart glasses can be easily controlled via a paired device like smartphone, tablet etc.
