Google TV, which is developed by the search engine giant, could soon get support for free TV channels.
The American company is in discussion with the free and ad-supported streaming television providers. They want to add those channels to its smart TV platform. In general it will be like a traditional TV with commercial breaks.
It is predicted that in the upcoming weeks or months, the free streaming channels could get launched on Google TV.
The company may also wait to announce the initiative with its Smart TV partners sometime early next year.
The users may or may not get a dedicated live TV menu to browse through the channels.
Generally on smart TVs, the streaming channels are normally presented alongside over the air programming that can be accessed with an antenna.
The Google TV is based on the Android OS and is powering devices like Chromecast as Smart TVs.
