Microsoft unveiled Windows 11 in a virtual event on Thursday. The announcement comes after the launch of Windows 10 back in 2015 which is the world's most widely operating system with over 1.3 billion devices using it.
During the event, Microsoft (MSFT) Chief Product Officer Panos Panay said, "The team obsessed over every pixel. All of these details coming together, the transitions, and the user interface, how it all flows together, is meant to bring you an incredible sense of calm."
The new Windows 11 will definitely looks smart and in line with the new generation. Users will finally get a centrally placed Start button among other things.
There will be a new Widgets tab with curated content and app widgets. Windows widgets will be more personalized and an AI-powered feed of information including weather, calendar, traffic reports and news to the users' screens.
Windows 11 Microsoft Store will have a new UI and better organised features. Users will also get Android apps via Amazon Appstore that they can directly install to thier PC. Microsoft has also brought the Users Auto HDR and Direct Storage API for faster fast travel in eligible games.
The company announced that new "snap layouts," which will give users various window layout options from the "maximize" button so that they can choose from multiple layout templates to display number of open applications on their screen.
The new operating system will also feature softer visuals including rounded corners on apps and icons to improve the looks of Windows.
According to data from the International Data Corporation the shipments of PCs grew 13% over the year 2020 which is the highest rate of growth in a decade. So, it is important to improve ybe experience for PC users as within a year people are spending more time on their devices.
