The smartphone company OPPO has filed many 5G patents infringement lawsuits against Nokia in China and Europe.
According to reports, all the patents consists 5G standard essential patents. While in the past Nokia had filed numerous patent infringement complaints against OPPO regarding standard-essential patent and non-SEP patents.
Few months ago, Nokia had filed a patent-related lawsuits against OPPO, so now as a retaliation, the Chinese company has filed lawsuits against Finnish company in China and Europe.
Nokia has many other patents up their company and has signed royalty-bearing agreements with companies like Samsung, Apple, LG, Lenovo, and blackberry. This is the first time in the last decade that the company has to file a counter sued for patent infringement.
As the commercialization of 5G technology are rising, the essential patent licensing rates between patent owners and smartphone makers have been increasing too.
By 2030, the 5G-enabled industries have the potential to add around $8 trillion to global GDP and so 75% of companies are investing in this technology.
