Scientists invent degradable plastic

This type of plastic when exposed to sunlight and oxygen decomposes within a week.

Plastic pollution is one of the threats with the greatest impact and is now starting to become a huge problem.

It chokes shorelines and oceans, in part because plastic polymers do not easily decompose. This would not be the case if every plastic, like the new one, would break down in about a week in sunlight and air.

In Huazhong University of Science and Technology while working on a type of chemical sensor such plastic material was developed. This type of plastic when exposed to sunlight and oxygen decomposes within a week and will leave no trace of it behind on the planet.

Though its availability will take a lot of time and researchers are also working on its composition for making this plastic more usable as others are.

The invention, if made usable on a large scale in replacement to the regular one, will help reduce the pollution levels drastically and will also be beneficial for the planet.
