WhatsApp has started reminding to users to accept the new updated privacy policy and how it will take effect from May 15. The Facebook owned instant messaging service had updated its privacy policy early in February, asking users to accept the new terms by February 8, which had raised strong protest among the users regarding privacy policy.

Due to strong public outrage against the new policy, WhatsApp had decided to postpone the date of implementation to May 15. From today morning the #whatsapp is trending on twitter as the users started sharing screenshot of the reminder that Whatsapp is sending to its users.

The messeging apps has also started stating that WhatsApp is not changing the privacy of a user's personal conversations. It also restates that the privacy policy goes into effect from May 15, 2021, and that users need to accept it in order to continue using WhatsApp after the date.

Due to the updated privacy policy many users had shifted to other messaging apps like Telegram and Signal earlier thinking that WhatsApp will share their private discussions with Facebook. But WhatsApp issued multiple elucidations saying that the chats are end-to-end encrypted and no one other than the receiver and sender has access to the chats, not even WhatsApp.
