Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium set to host a Test Match In Lucknow after 28 years

There was a time in Lucknow at the KD Babu Stadium when the noise of international matches was echoed. After a long hold, a similar event is going to happen again but this time the stadium is going to change.


Test cricket is going to be held in the city in the coming days. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cricket Stadium in Lucknow can be seen hosting an international Test match. Also, efforts are being made to make Lucknow a new destination for the buzz of IPL. The BCCI is gearing up to implement both these aspects on its own.


According to press reports, a Test match can be played in Lucknow when the New Zealand team is scheduled to tour India after the ICC T20 World Cup. The Test match is scheduled to be played at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium, which has a viewer capacity of 70,000. This will be for the first time since the World Test Championship that India and New Zealand will be seen in Test cricket.If Lucknow gets to host the Test match, it is more likely to be a gift that Lucknow has received after 28 years.


The last international match that was played at the KD Singh Babu Stadium in Lucknow in January 1994 was between India and Sri Lanka and it was also the only Test played in the city. The reports also says that BCCI has also finalized the venue for the 2 Tests matches against New Zealand. The first Test between India and New Zealand is scheduled in Lucknow and the second test will be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
