India is rejoicing as Neeraj Chopra brings home Gold in men's javelin throw final at Tokyo Olympics, after 121 years in the field marking history.
Neeraj, who also achieved country's second individual gold medal in its Olympic history after Abhinav Bindra's heroics in Beijing 2008, took India's medal haul to seven in the ongoing Games.
The 23-year-old had made a public vow on Twitter, in 2017 and said, "Sabhi ko #OlympicDay ki dher saari shubhkaamnayein! @Tokyo2020 main desh ka naam hum sab roshan karke hi rahenge," he had tweeted on Olympic Day in 2017. (Wishing everyone the best on Olympic Day. In Tokyo 2020, we will make the country proud.)
As it turned out, with his herculean effort of 87.58m that sealed the title on Saturday, nobody else in the competition managed to get past even his first effort as he comfortably secured the gold medal.
Neeraj has definitely made the country and all of us proud!
