IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli will step down from his position following the completion of this edition of the tournament, the franchise announced in a statement on September 19.

 

"This will be my last IPL as captain of RCB," Virat was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the team on social media.

 

"I’ll continue to be an RCB player till I play my last IPL game. I thank all the RCB fans for believing in me and supporting me," Kohli added.

 

The 32-year-old Kohli has been captaining RCB since 2013, and has been associated with the team since the tournament's inaugural edition in 2008.
