MS Dhoni's new record; becomes first player to register this feat

He achieved the feat when he played against Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai

Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has made yet another record. The former captain has played the 200th game for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he achieved the feat when he played against Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in match eight of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday evening.


Dhoni has played 206 matches in the IPL for CSK and Champions League T20. He has made 176 appearances for CSK in the IPL besides making 24 outings for the side in the Champions League T20 tournament. He has also represented Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) 30 IPL matches in the 2016-17 seasons when CSK was serving a two-year ban from the cash-rich league.


Presently, he is at the eighth spot in the list of leading run-getters in IPL, with 4,632 runs in which 4,058 for CSK.


He also holds the record of hitting the maximum number of sixes by an Indian batsman in the IPL.


Suresh Raina stands second on the list with 190 appearances for the franchise followed by all-rounder RavindraJadeja with 132 appearances. Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore was the first to achieve the accomplishment of 200 appearances for a single IPL franchise; he now has 209 appearances for RCB.
