Ross Taylor racially abused by fans

Taylor, 37, is the first person to play 100 matches in all three formats of international cricket

Racism, a serious global issue has now reached to the field of sports. At ICC World Test Championship final racist abuse was reported. On Day 5 of the WTC final between India and New Zealand in Southampton, two fans reportedly abused Ross Taylor and were quickly evicted from the stadium.


A report in stuff.co.nz revealed that the International Cricket Council (ICC) received a complaint via Twitter from a fan watching the match on television. He said the abuse had included racist comments directed at batsman Ross Taylor, whose mother comes from Samoa.


A tweet from Dominic da Souza stated "@ICCMediaComms hey folks, is there anyone at the ground taking note of crowd behaviour? There is a patron yelling abuse at the NZ team. There's been some pretty inappropriate stuff throughout the day, including reports of racist abuse directed at LRPL Taylor,"


A spokesman for the International Cricket Council said. "Our security team was able to identify the culprits and they were ejected from the ground." "We received reports of abuse directed at the New Zealand players."


Taylor, 37, is the first person to play 100 matches in all three formats of international cricket.
