Shahil Dey from Assam becomes first International Master from Northeast India

He is a 13 year old chess prodigy

Shahil Dey a 13-Year-old chess prodigy from Assam became International Master.

He achieved his third International Master norm at First Saturday GM June 2021 tournament. This held at Budapest in Hungary today. Shahil became the first International Chess master from North East.

The child prodigy had started to participate in competition at the age of five in Guwahati scored 5 points from 8 rounds and got norm with a round spare.

Now, he played his last round game against Grandmaster Pacher Milan of Slovakia and also completed his rating requirement.

North East, Guwahati Chess Association and Sports Authority of India congratulate him for his achievement.
