Flash floods triggered by incessant rains hit Himachal

Flash floods caused by a cloudburst in Himachal's tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti.

Reportedly on Wednesday, around ten people are missing and seven are feared dead in flash floods caused by a cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh's tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti.


Sudesh Kumar Mokhta who is the State Disaster Management Authority Director of Himachal Pradesh said that at least four people are feared dead in Kullu district and one person is feared dead in Chamba.


The director also said that two tents of labourers and a private JCB have been washed away in the state following which a 19-year-old labourer, Mohammad Altaaf was injured while around 10 people are reported missing in the incident at Lahaul's Udaipur.


Mohammad Altaaf who is a resident of Jammu and Kashmir has been taken to a nearby hospital for medical care.


The state police and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police teams were sent for searching the missing people.


He said that a heavy flow of water had obstructed the search operation on Tuesday night and it will resume on Wednesday morning.


Several other incidents of landslides have also been reported across Himachal especially in the tribal districts in last couple of days as heavy rains lashed the region.
