A week after, a hacker stole USD 610 million worth digital currency from PolyNetwork in what was likely the biggest thieve in history of so-called decentralised finance, and now the victim has offered its attacker a job.
The attacker had claimed the hack against the crypto platform that lets users to swap tokens across multiple blockchains was an act of “hacking for good” to “save the project.”
The hacker has since promised to return all the amount and has till now delivered about half of it.
The crypto platform has responded by showering praise on the attacker, who it label “Mr. White Hat,” a term that is used to describe ethical hackers who picked up vulnerabilities in computer networks and alert companies about the same to fix them.
In an act of gratitude, the crypto platform PolyNetwork had offered Mr White Hat a job as “Chief Security Adviser," on Tuesday.
To identify of the hacker isn’t clear if the hacker is a single individual or a group of attackers.
