At least 21 dead and 50 missing due to flooding in US state of Tennessee

The people who got dragged to death in the flood ranged in age from babies to the elderly

The severe flood in the US state of Tennessee had killed at least 21 people and 50 others are reported to be missing. Authorities are taking actions and conducting house to house search of the area in order to determine any more casualties or missing persons.


The natural calamity took place after record rainfall of up to 17 inches in some areas caused massive flooding on Saturday afternoon and evening. The town of Waverly, about 88 km west of Nashville was the most affected place in which hundreds of homes were left uninhabitable.


According to the Mayor, the people who got dragged to death in the flood ranged in age from babies to the elderly. Reports came that a 7-month-old twins died in the flood.


The flood affected the geographical and man-made properties of the place. Massive trees were uprooted, the flood tore through homes and tossed cars, pickup trucks and displaced the areas completely.


Search and rescue operations are going on to find missing people, who are still not found or assumed to be dead.
