The World Health Organization has confirmed that at least Forty-nine cases of people having been in contact with a young Guinean woman who tested positive for the Ebola virus in Abidjan, have been identified so far.
This young Guinean woman had left her town last week to travel to the Ivorian economic capital which is 1,500 km away.
While in Labé, 58 contacts have been identified so far. Elhadj Mamadou Houdy Bah, the city's regional health director said that they have not shown any signs as of now.
As per an Ivorian doctor, 70 people were on board the bus in which the young woman traveled. Out of which 33 arrived in Abidjan, and the rest are scattered throughout Côte d'Ivoire.
The health authorities have established a network and they were able to identify the communities in which these people live. Constant monitoring is done and officials are positive that they will be able to contain the virus.
