B'desh violence day 5: Over 60 houses of Hindu community torched

This comes just a day after two Hindu men were killed amidst the recent unrest in the country

The ugly communal violence in Bangladesh have raised global concern. It comes as little surprise that these tensions erupted as a result of a social media post which falsely showed the Holy Quran being besmirched at the Durga Puja celebrations at a Comilla temple.
 
Several instances of vandalism at Durga Puja pandals and attacks on temples have been reported in the last few days in Bangladesh
 
In another dreadful incident on Sunday, at least 60 houses of Hindus were torched by a mob in the city Rangpur. The confirmation comes from the local Union Parishad chairman.
 
Police reached the spot soon after tensions mounted and stood guard around the home of the young man. We could save that house but attackers torched some 15 to 20 nearby houses," Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Kamruzzaman said.
 
However, all were marked safe during the attack and the situation was brought under control. The hineious act took place in Pirganj upazila's Karimganj last night.
 
This comes just a day after two Hindu men were killed amidst the recent unrest in the country.
 
So far, Bangladesh police have detained 43 suspects allegedly involved in communal violence. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has assured the citizens that the perpetrators will be "hunted down and punished."
