Bangladesh: Police recover three bombs from militant hideout

The Police have recovered three bombs while conducting an operation in Narayanganj’s Araihajar Upazila.

The Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police and members of the bomb disposal unit conducted the drive on a house at Panchagaon on Sunday.


Chief of the DMP’s Counterterrorism and Transnational Crime unit Md Asaduzzaman, briefed the media about the drive that the police have exploded three improvised explosive devices or IEDs in a controlled environment and found a large amount of bomb making material.


An inspector at Araihajar Police Station, Anisur Rahman said that the one-storey house in Noagaon also called ‘Mia Saheber Bari’ which has a mosque next to it.


A resident of the area ,Faizul Islam said that few days back some people posing as law enforcers picked up Abdullah Al Mamun, Khalid Hasan Bhuiyan and Shafiqul Islam Hridoy from that area.


Officials also said he had told the law enforcers that the bomb planted outside a police box in Narayanganj in May was supplied from this house itself.


Police Anti-Terrorism Unit is still investigating this case. Superintendent of police and the Chief of the Anti-Terrorism unit, Sanwar Hossain had earlier said that the bomb was remote-controlled one and it did not go off for some reason.
