External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday had arrived in New York City to hold bilateral talks with his Norway, Iraq and Uinted Kingdom compeer.
EAM will be meeting Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Soereide, newly appointed United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, and also the Iraq's Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
S Jaishankar took to Twitter and wrote, "Began my #UNGA meetings with FM Ine Eriksen Soreide of Norway. Appreciated our working together in the Security Council. A comprehensive discussion on Afghanistan. Important for the international community to take a unified approach."
Ahead of United States visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Minister of External Affairs will be holding a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings on the subsidiary of the United Nations General Assembly meeting.
The officials sources had told news agency, ANI that S Jaishankar will be taking part in the G4 foreign ministers meet on September 22 and is expected to participate at the SAARC meeting on September 26.
Although, the meeting is yet to be confirmed. G4 countries includes Brazil, Germany, India and Japan.
Few of the meetings are also anticipated on Afghanistan. While, Qatar is also organizing meetings in which India is probable to participate.
High-level debate week at the United Nations General Assembly will commence tomorrow and top leaders from globally have already begin converging in New York City.
The UNGA meeting, 2021 is in a mixed-breed format where number of leaders are expected to arrive in New York City.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing UNGA meeting on September 25.
