Hurricane Ida makes landfall in southwest Cuba

Hurricane is expected to reach the US on Sunday as an 'extremely dangerous' Category 4 storm

Major hurricane Ida dashed western Cuba on Friday and the Category 1 storm is expected to slam the United States Gulf Coast as an even stronger cyclone on Sunday, putting all the states from Louisiana to Florida on red alert for powerful destruction.
As per to the Cuba's meteorology institute Insmet, Ida had hit the town of La Coloma, in the province of Pinar del Rio at nearly 0030 GMT, with sustained winds of 80 miles a hour.
The forecasters at the National Hurricane Center said that the hurricane Ida will briefly reach Category 4 strength before striking the southern Louisiana coast on Sunday evening as a Category 3 storm, .
The hurricane center informed that Ida is estimated to be an extremely dangerous giant hurricane when it approaches the northern Gulf coast on Sunday.
