The baby boy, Bruno, born last week on the Spanish island of Ibiza has become the first new-born in Spain with Covid-19 antibodies. His mother had received the vaccine in the third trimester of her pregnancy.
The Hospital Son Espases in Mallorca analysed a sample from the baby’s umbilical cord and had confirmed that he had developed antibodies against Covid-19.
This is a new light of hope in research in medical sciences and helps in study on the impact of Covid-19 on pregnant women which will screens the 88 pregnant women who have caught Covid-19 during pregnancy, including those who are asymptomatic.
There is also hope that pregnant women who are getting vaccinated can have the capability to immunise both themselves and their babies; who receive the antibodies through placenta.
